¤          A lab notebook will be maintained by each student.  The notebook is to be left in the lab at all times.

¤          A presentation will be made by each student at a lab meeting at the end of each semester.  At the completion of the presentation a paper, reflecting what was verbally presented will be given to Dr. Guiltinan.

¤          Dr. Guiltinan strongly encourages all eligible 496 students to participate in the Undergraduate Research Program at some point during your tenure in his lab.

¤          To participate in the program:

You and your mentor develop and submit a proposal for research.  The proposal is submitted and, if accepted, you will be rewarded with a small supply budget to be used for your research.  Research will be completed during the summer or fall; you must be registered as a 496 student.  In addition, you will write a paper summarizing your work and submit this paper at the end of the semester that you have designated as wishing to participate in this program.   You will also be required to make a poster and present this poster at the annual Undergraduate Research Fair held each year in the Spring Semester.  Forms are also available if you wish to apply to present your poster at a National Presentation.  Application for the Nationals must be submitted sometime in November.  If you are chosen, you and your poster will be given an all expense paid trip to wherever the Nationals are being held at in a particular year.  I will inform all of you regarding deadlines for application, etc.

¤          There are other opportunities to prepare and display posters regarding your undergraduate work.  I will notify you as these opportunities arise.
